Groningen: study-trip to Hanover and Frankfurt 3/2006

Different to many other study tour events this trip was concentrating on organisational issues!

The focus was on regional organisation and integration of PT-planning in overall planning as well as on tendering of PT-services. The group of 6 participants from the Groningen-Assen PT-office, region and municipality of Groningen arrived in Hanover at lunchtime Thursday 30th and received several presentations in the Region Hannover offices, e.g. about the ill-fated INTALLIANCE joint venture of Deutsche Bahn and local PT-operator UESTRA. Late afternoon the group moved to Kassel for staying over night and getting some REGIOTRAM flavour on the way. The unavailability of hotel rooms in Frankfurt due to some big fair thus resulted in one additional topic on the programme - sometimes one can make something good out of the bad!

Friday morning the group took an early ICE to Frankfurt and was hosted then by Planungsverband Frankfurt in their offices. The presentation of traffiQ, the local Frankfurt PT-authority, showed out to be highly relevant for the group with regard to tendering approaches.

Seeing two cities/regions and their highly different approaches with regard to organisation, integration and tendering allowed the group to get a much wider picture then it would have been the case by just seeing/meeting one of the two!
